I had the good luck recently to be asked by the fine folk at Herb Lester Associates to write one of their guides to ‘the usual and unusual’. Because they were aware of my extreme espresso habit and penchant for theatrical Italian hand gestures they sent me to Rome, a city I know well and have been known to bore people senseless relentlessly banging on about. So it was therapeutic to concentrate my knowledge and thoughts about this wonderful city and get it all down in this guide. As ever with all Herb Lester products it has been executed with some style. The design work by Nate Luetkehans is absolutely charming and manages to capture the mood of the words and the atmosphere of the city perfectly. If you too enjoy the stuff I ramble about on this blog - clothes, espresso, Italy, design and architecture of a particular hue - then this modest guide might be your thing. It costs £4 and can be purchased from Herb’s website and a large number of London bookshops and galleries. You can also find a piece I wrote for the Herb Lester journal and some photographs of Rome I took here.
